So there is this family reunion coming up, it is in about 10 days or so. I really don't want to go but everyone is expecting everyone to show up. I dated one of my cousins close friends and she is always going to these things and it just makes it awkward as hell for me. Not to mention, I really don't get along with half of my family. What are some creative but logically believable ways to get out of going?

The easiest way to get out of family things is to work. If you can't work, you make an obligation to help someone out. I usually just make sure I am working that day and say I forgot to ask off lol

I got out of a family thing last month. I just said I had some kind of stomach issue. When people kept on me about it, I said I had diarrhea. No one wants to debate that lol

I am always honest when it comes to these things. Like if I don't want to go, then I just say I don't. For while my family fought me but now they just assume I ain't going.

Work always... works. At least it did for me. If you work a job where your hours are messed up, like in Retail or something, then you just say "sorry, i cant make it. gotta pay my bills."

Usually that seems to work for me.
